Hai after a very long time with God's grace i am here again with a new project. I see a project like this in my school days and also fire god temple door in web. When plan for fire god temple door i cant able to give it to my daughter because of the use of fire. So i change the plan to water god temple door. Its working superb try it and explain the physics beyond it to kids.

Materials Required

1) 3/4" PVC Wiring pipe - 3Nos

2) 3/4" PVC Wiring Elbow - 15Nos

3) 3/4" PVC Wiring Tee -11 Nos.

4) 1" PVC Wiring pipe -1Nos

5) 1" PVC Wiring Elbow - 4Nos

6) 1" PVC Wiring Tee - 4Nos

7) Fishing Line or strong thin thread

8) Plastic Corrugated sheet.

9) Big Plastic container - 2Nos.

10) Water Mug and Tub to collect water.

Plan

Its works like physical balance. Doors are connected with rope and one side a weight is placed and on the other side water is filled so the balance tilt to that side pull the rope and door open. When the water escape through the hole the water container goes up and the door closed.

Its very very fun for kids and they enjoy it very much. I did it very standard because of the plan to use in my daughter school if you want you make it simple.

1) Doors are make using 1" PVC Pipe.

2) Cut 1" PVC Pipe, 200mm Piece - 4 Nos, 90mm Pieces - 4Nos.

3) For one side door use 200mm piece - 2Nos, 90mm Pieces - 2Nos, Tee - 2Nos, Elbow - 2Nos.

4) Join as show in the 4th picture and insert it fully.

5) Make another door like the same.

Use the pictures to join the pipes step by step. As per image i explan below

1) Join 2 nos of 420mm and 1 no of 240 mm with 2 Nos of elbow.

2) Use 2 Tee and 1 No of 240mm join the other end.

3) Take 2 nos of 95 mm and join it in the open end of tee. Join another 2 tee in the other end of 95mm and in the open end of tee join 4 Nos of 35mm.

4) Join 2 tees at the straight end of the 35mm and join 2 Nos of 95mm at the straight end of the Tee.

5) Use 2 elbow and a 240mm pipe close the open end of 95mm.

6) In the first open tees facing side wise with 35mm pipe join a 290mm pipes and make it straight. Join 2 nos of 290mm to the Second tees open end facing up wise ( this pipe is the holder ofr door).

7) Same image in different angle.

8) Insert the door in the second pipe standing straight.

9) Close the open end of the door standing pipe with tee and a 240mm piece. In the open end of the tee join 35mm piece.

10) Close the open end of 35mm piece with a tee and one end of the tee with a 35mm piece and its is connected to the another standing 290mm piece with an elbow.

11) In the open end of the tee use Elbows and 25mm pieces to make a 'J' to hold the cable which drive the door.

1) For Building frame we use 3/4" PVC pipe so that the doors are insert over the 3/4" pipe for free movement.

2) At first cut the 3/4" pvc pipe pieces listed below

1. 420mm - 2Nos

2. 290mm - 4Nos

3. 240mm - 4Nos

4. 95mm - 4Nos

5. 35mm - 8Nos

6. 25mm - 4Nos.

3) 3/4" PVC tee - 10 Nos.

4) 3/7" PVC elbow - 12 Nos.

Prepare the pieces and ready for construction.

Fix the Thread to Door (Few Changes in Connection After 3 Steps)

This thread connection have some problem during run with water, but it run fine while test. This is a single rope method both the doors connected with single rope. put a screw near the top left most side and tie the thread there. rotate the thread two end one in clock wise and another in anticlockwise side, Pull the thread on open side and found door open and other side door closed. Take the close side to the left side of the connection and take the open side to the next door and rotate the thread opposite of the first door, so that both the doors open and close at the same time. Test the connection.

Pull the rope and test the doors. Its working superb when handled by hands with out weights.

Close Stopper

Door open up to the front pipe, but for backside we need a stopper, otherwise the door open fully. For stopper cut the top 240mm pipe to pieces to add 2nos of pvc tee. and the open end of the tee add small pipes correct the tee up to door full close and screw it.

I found chocolate ball on my daughter's ball box. That ball has lid, so i take that ball and put a hole in the lid. Tie one side of rope to that lid and fill the ball with required weights, i use coins as weights. As per requirement add and reduce weight.

When weight is added during auto close or open it stuck. So to change the frame design to let the two sides of rope straight to the door. After that it is very smooth open and close.

In the previous method one thread is used for both doors, the problem i face is when load start raise in one side then that side door first open slightly and the the next door opens. Also during close one side close fully another side not close fully due to light load on that side.

In this method we use two ropes. Tie each rope in each door and wrap the rope around the pipes in both direction and join both ends together. Tie weight one side and test with pull other side. The result is perfect see the next video.

Before start the step put the frame over a table edge on left side then only water able to flow from poring bowl to collecting bowl.

I bought two bowl box in local store very very cheep rs 12 each (0.15 US dollar). One is medium size and another one is bigger than that. Use the medium size to balance. Put four holes on the bowl and tie rope on all the holes. Join it together and connect it with the other side of the balance. Put some holes on the bottom of the bowel to drain the water. Now test this arrangement.

While testing add or remove weight from the other side as required for smooth move. If more weight then the door not open even bowl full of water, less weight not able to close the door. So change weight and check.

Take the biggest bowl and in the bottom put a 3/4" hole and insert a elbow, use hot glue gun to paste it with out leak. Take a 3/4" pvc tee and cut one side as like picture. Clean the inside to allow 3/4" pipe go through it freely. Cut the 420mm pipe in the middle and remove the size of tee joint, connect the tee and insert the pipe. Join the bowl with L bend. On the other side connect a L bend and use a pipe direct to the hanging bowl. In the end connect a L bend and tilt it facing down.

Cover With Sheets Step1

Want to decorate the frame and cover the mechanical arrangement. I have pvc corrugated sheet purchased for lamp project. Cut the sheet and cover the base first. Unscrew the 4 joint screws and scrww with the sheet. For water pouring tub cut the center piece off the lid and close it. For doors cut the pvc corrugated sheet and use hot glue gun to paste it with the frame.

For front decorate like temple. For insdie the door cut a piece and screw it with the base. For door way cut a piece and join it with the front decorate piece, leave the other side open so the door move freely. Now all are completed.

If you have green grass like sheet put it in the base and keep all the arrangement over there. For temple you can print flux and paste it.

I just put a background using bedsheet.

I play with it lot of times and its back to my school days. It almost late night so still my daughter not see it full working waiting for her review. Its working perfectly.

Its very fun for kids. Its very perfect for science exhibition for kids.
