Are you tired of potholders slipping off part of your hand when you grab a pot? Well I fixed that problem with This slide and grab type potholder. I have seen silicone ones in stores for the fingers so I made my own for the whole hand. I hope you enjoy my instructable.
(If there is others similar to this out there I do not know if it.)

Materials Needed

You will need Thick Cotton cloth (or some that will not melt/burn with heat), Cotton batting, thread to match you material, decorative material of your choice, scissors, tape measure.

Assembly of Part 1

Cut a 2 10x81/2" pieces of your cotton material and then also cut the same size of batting. (I used poly batting for demonstration purposes only!) Lay you decorative material on top of your thick cotton material, sew a few lines or use a decorative stitch to hold batting down.

Ok, after you have stitched the decorative material to the thick cotton material, lay 2 pieces of your decorative material the size from your middle finger tip to the base of your fingers and 1/2 the size of your base material, Leaving enough material to use a s a seam allowance. Now fold uyour main(base) material in half and crease it , you will see where the crease will come in later. Take your small finger material and fold down about 1/2" and sew, then place on base material as pictured. Sew the seams as pictured. Fold all thicknesses in half. (batting not pictured so you can see it better.)

Part 2 of Assembly

Now sew up the long seam and make corner, then sew down other side. I found it easier to leave open one end for turning instead of leaving the middle open. cut away the extra material (if any) then cut corners and turn pushing the corners out.

Finishing

Now you are ready to turn in about 1/4" or more at the opened end. After you have that done sew across the seam and you are done. And you have a nice grab-n-go potholder.
