"Beach Ball" Game

000_1533.jpg
Here's a game that combines bowling and golf, and takes almost nothing to play, just a nice sunny day at the beach.

Materials

What you need:
Shovel (small one works best)
Small ball (tennis ball size)
Your hands
Sand
Good amount of space to fit your game (make it how ever big you want it)

For 1 or more players

Making the Walls

This is not necessary, but I find it adds to the game.
Using your hands (they work best), drag up the sand from opposite sides to make a short but sturdy wall. There should be a back wall and I usually only make the side walls go out as far as the holes.

Making the Holes

Before you make the holes it helps to walk around on the area you are going to be making the holes to flatten out the area.
This is where you get to be creative. Use the shovel to make various holes within the walls. I typically have two or three in the back, one in the middle and two in the front.
The holes should be a little bigger than the ball, but you can make them whatever size you want.

Making It Interesting

Here is another chance to do whatever you want. You can add mounds/hills, depressions (not holes, used to "trap" the ball), ramps, slides, arches, anything you can think of.

I have even put a hole outside the walls worth negative points.

**Please add your suggestions, I'm always looking for new things to try**

Final Steps and Play

Depending on how much space you have, go out at least 5 feet (adult steps) from the closest hole and draw a line in the sand as the foul line (as in bowling, you can't go past this line).

Make each hole worth a certain amount of points and decide upon a total score the winner must reach.
For example the back holes are worth 20 points, the front ones worth 10. The winner is the first player to reach 150 points.

Each player gets three rolls (roll the ball to get it in the hole), after his or her 3 rolls, the next player is up and so on.

The game takes about 15 minutes to set up and at least that long for a single game of 2 players, depending on how good you are at it.

I hope everything is clear, as this is my first Instructable.
I hope you can get a chance to play the game and get as much enjoyment out of it as I have.
Have fun and good luck!
