Make a Super Cute and Crafty Baby Mobile
I put this one together for a friend who is expecting shortly.
Mobile Material
I bought a large plastic bowl at Walgreens. I needed something solid to hold all the other parts I mean to add.
Preset for Stars
I drilled a number of holes for the stars in the bowl basin,
and holes for the dangling pipe cleaners along the rim.

Interior Scene
Using krylon fusion spray paint (for plastics)
I sprayed the interior black and blue
then added glitter glue stars and galaxies and
finished the whole thing with a clear polish

Placing the Stars
I found these lights in the floral section of a craft store.
I placed each light in a previously drilled hole and hot glued it into place.

Clean Up the Spaghetti Wires
Using more hot glue, place all the wires in clean lines.
Almost Finished With the Exterior
Using krylon fusion spray paint I painted a sky scene with white and blue.
(take special care to cover all the battery and it's case with tape while painting.
Next, I drilled a hole in the center for hanging gear.
then added velcro to hold down the hide-away for the battery pack.

Hide-away, Part 1
I cleaned up and transformed a cat food container to cover and hide the battery pack.
I painted it white with the fusion spray paint, and added velcro feet to match the velcro on the top of the mobile.

Hide-away, Part 2
To make the cat food container more aesthetically appealing, and make it fit the scene, I hot glued a paper cupcake holder to the top. Now it looks like a table with a table skirt on it.
Adding the Clouds
using poly fill for clouds, i laid it out over the whole bowl and then cut it to cover all the star backs. and hot glued the whole thing down.
I left space in the poly fill for the rigging, and another for the table.

Tasty Treats for the Table
I found these mini food pieces on ebay and hot glued them on.
Cute Characters
I also found these mini teddies in a craft store and hot glued each into position.
Belaying
Below the clouds two teddies are making their way down a belay line.
(belay line is made of pipe cleaners)
Origami paper cranes hang from twisted pipe cleaners.
A large colorful flower is hot glued to the end of the belay line/ pipe cleaner.

Battery Access
The table skirt can be lifted to turn the stars on.
The whole table can be removed (remember the velcro) to replace the batteries.

Mobile Action
To animate and play tunes, wind the crank clockwise.
I also found the musical mobile spinner on ebay.
