Light Table From Scanner

How to turn your old flatbed scanner in a light table?

This is my first instructable, so I thought I'd start with something simple.
Lets turn the light from an old flatbed scanner upside down ... and presto
one light table. Easy to copy drawings to fabric.

So what do you need:

a flatbed scanner (with power adapter)
2 small wires
solder iron
hot glue gun

So, open up your flatbed scanner and remove everything that's inside, just try not to break anything ;-)
Keep the light (duh), the inverter and if you can the input plug for the AC adapter.

If you look closely you'll see that the inverter is already attached to the light.
It's easy to figure out where the inverter needs power. Here it's the black and yellow wires.

I tested it before I soldered and glued everything in place.
If the light doesn't burn, try switching the wires ;-)

For my first attempt at this instructable, I used a Trust Easy WebScan 240H Gold.
This has the possibility of scanning photofilm negatives. It had a light in the lid with a nice white plastic cover.

All that was needed was to solder 2 wires from the input plug to the inverter.
Stick the light to the bottom with some glue

For a first attempt it turned out really well.

Some remarks though:
Next time I'll use 2 lights if possible, now the light is brightest in the centre.
Maybe build in a switch to turn it on/off.
And take more pictures before I glue everything stuck ;-)
