Helmet Speaker Mod

riding your scooter bike motorcycle or other rides that require a helmet can get boring on those long journeys or cruises. music can help this. but what if you forget your headphones? here is a simple mod that you can do so you will always be able to listen to your tunes as long as you have an mp3 player.

most of the materials you can use can probably be recycled or acquired at a electronics store like radioshack. this project shouldnt cost more than 10 bucks.

you will need:
-some length of wire(2 thin guaged wires. about 3-4 feet long)
-a speaker(can be taken from an old set of headphone or bought from an electronics store for around 1-2 bucks)
-an old set of headphones for the 3.5mm stereo jack
-a soldering iron
-a hot glue gun
-a helmet you want to put the speaker system in

wiring up the speakers so they work is essential for this mod. if they dont work, it defeats the purpose of it.

first you want to get your length of wire and bundle them together.
then you will want to strip the ends and solder one side to the speakers.
then solder the other side to the headphone jack.
you should end up with something that is like a set of headphones with only one speaker.

now you will want to put it in the helmet. you will need your hot glue gun

-first locate the spot where you want to put the speaker in your helmet. it could be on the left or right and close to your ear so you can hear the speaker
-then once you locate the spot you want the speaker in, apply the hot glue to the back of the speaker and place the speaker in the desired spot you chose to put it in.
-secure the wire coming from the speaker accordingly so the wire doesnt get pulled from the speaker and break it.

plug it all up and see if it works. if it does, you can enjoy music while you ride.

note: i am only using one speaker for safety reasons.
