Fischertechnik Yule Penguins

I play with different educational manipulatives for a living. (Visit www.weirdrichard.com). Over the years I have built different holiday themed models using all sorts of toys. It is easy to create awesome Christmas and Yule scenes with fischertechnik pieces and parts. This instructable will describe how to create a baby and a mama penguin Christmas decoration. Hang them on the tree! Place them on the mantle! Put them in a young one's stocking!

Gather elements:
You will need to gather your elements. The fischertechnik elements are available from a range of kits available from a

fischertechnik retailer, and the specific elements can be purchased individually from www.fischertechnik.com. They also come

up for sale on ebay often.

Baby Penguin
1 Angular Block 60 Degrees
1 Building Block 15
1 Building Block 15 with 2 Pins
1 Building Block 15x30x5 with Groove and Pin
2 Mounting Plate 15x15

Mama Penguin

1 Angular Block 60 Degrees
1 Building Block 30
1 Building Block 15
1 Building Block 15x30x5 with Groove and Pin
3 Mounting Plate 15x15

Begin the baby penguin's feet by sliding a Building Block 15 onto a Building Block 15x30x5 with Groove and Pin.

Slide a Mounting Plate 15x15 on each side of the Building Block 15 to act as wings.

Add a Building Block 15 with 2 Pins on the Building Block 15.

Add an Angular Block 60 Degrees to the side of the Building Block 15 with 2 Pins to act as a beak, and you are finished with the baby penguin!

In a similar fashion to the Baby Penguin, begin the mama penguin's feet by sliding a Building Block 30 onto a Building Block 15x30x5 with Groove and Pin. Add three Mounting Plate 15x15s, one to the front to act as a colored belly patch, and the other two on each side to act as wings. Stack a Building Block 15 on the Building Block 30 to act as a head. Add an Angular Block 60 Degrees to the side of the Building Block 15 with 2 Pins to act as a beak, and you are finished with the mama penguin!
