Hundreds of 3d full hd. side by side videos are available on internet. You can also make amazing 3d images from your smartphone with the help of 3d camera softwares available for free in google play store (3d steroid for example) For best results you must have a smartphone having full hd i.e. 1920x1080 pixel display

Making the Box

I made this unit for my samsung galaxy s4 by using +8 power convex lenses which are extracted from a toy binoculars . It is not nessesory that you only use +8 convex lenses. It can be between +5 to + 8. What is important is that the lenses should flat from one side, (also called plano convex lenses ) Which are capable to magnifie the image without distortion specially at corner ends . Using any other lenses may distort the image like fish eye effect .Do not use more power lenses then suggested otherwise the small pixels on mobile will visible as coloured dots . The lenses can also ordered at any spactacle shop. The box can made by cardboard or by using 4 to 6 mm. thick plywood sheet

Setting the Exact Focal Lenth

The second step is to determine the exact focal length of lenses you are using . An easy way is to do it with trial and error method . Put your mobile on flat surface . By keeping backlit on , keeping the flat side of lens towards your eye move your head towards the disply until you can see clear letters(or app icons) on disply . By putting a scale between diplay to lens you can measure exact distance
In my prototype it is 82 mm. This is the depth of your box (see image) This should be done very presicely.

Making the Front Part of Box

The distance between eyes ,also known as pupillary distance is between 55 to 66 mm. for various people . So for an average set the lenses (see image) at 60 mm. This also makes exact width to view mobile display which is approx. 11 cm. in width for 5 inch displays. Make two holes to set the lenses . Paste/ fix the lences on board carefully with the help of adhesive or foam tape .Do not use synoacrelite based adhesives. They may spread on the lens and permanently damage it . If available use rubber caps (see image) to protect the lenses as well as to block outer light when viewing . These caps can be obtained from any toy binoculars

Finalizing the Project

After making the box take/download a 3d side by side video/ image to your mobile . (see images) . put your mobile in backside of box . Adjust your smartphone until you see a single image in 3D .

Focus

Focus is very important when viewing images or videos .A blur image can not give a realistic 3 d effect . If nessesory adjust the focus by pasting any pads/ thick paper at the back side of box . Make the box slightly shorter than the actual focus so it can be adjusted after construction . With a full hd smartphone you can view very stunning images in big size in 3D
