Airsoft Shotgun Modification (make It Cooler Looking)

utg shotgun.bmp
I'll show you how change a UTG M87LA shotgun with a full stock into a cooler looking more realistic shotgun. Now this is for the people who bought the shotgun a while back, like me. I bought it like three years ago. It was before I found cooler looking shotguns. I did this for like $10. So. Let's get started. Oh. and just so you know. I did this before I found instructables. So there wont be any pics of the process but I'l show some different pictures and it'll be really detailed.

Tools

These are the tools you'll need, most of which you can probably find in your garage. If not, shiould be like $10 at the most:

1.Some PCV, PVC, I dont't now how to spell it, but about 5 inches is good. Make sure it's 1/2 inch. You can put as much as you want.

2. A hacksaw. To cut the pipe.

3. Sandpaper to sand down the pipe.

4. Some electrical tape. It's the only black stuff I had. My dad didn't want to go buy some spray paint. He thinks I'll tag stuff. Anyway. I used the electrical tape.

5.Brown spray paint. I used brown for the pumping part and the stock. You can use any color you want. You can even leave it black.

6. Screwdriver. I forgot to put it into the picture, I think it comes with one though. I can't remember. Just use a fairly small one to get the railing thing off. And if you're gonna paint it, use it to get the small screw on the pumping part.

7. some kind of marker or something. One that you don't use. You're gonna have to cut it up. And it has to be round. Like a crayola or something.

8. Hot glue gun. To glue stuff of course.

Painting. If You Don't Want to Paint It, Skip This Step

You're gonna want to take off the rail thingy. Just take your screwdriver and unscrew the two screws on each side and it should come off. Now. There's a little cap at the tip of the barrel at the end. It holds the front weight in there. Unscrew it and take off the strap mount. Now take off the barrel. It should slide off once you take the cap off. On top of the pumping part, there's a little screw. It holds the pumping part in place. Unscrew it and put the tiny screw somewhere you won't lose it. Take the pump thing off. Time to tape. Tape off the little balck rubber part of the stock. It will make it look fancy. If you want to paint the grip designs don't tape them. Otherwise, tape it up. Lay out some newspaper, paint, wait like an hour(I do, I'm impatient) it should be dry. If it's on a sunny day. And vwala. It's perty.

The Fun Cutting Part.

This is where we get to use the hack saw. Yay! First, there's gonna be an orange tip at the end of the gun. We're gonna get rid of it so that the pipe can go over it. Oh, and as I said, I did it before I found instructables, so I don't have any real pictures. Sorry.

The Fun Cutting Part 2

Now for the pipe. Cut it as long as you want the barrel to be. After cutting, make sure it fits on the end of the gun. This guns has choke like a real shotgun but you can see it. The barrel is like a cone. So when you put the pipe on it, it will squeeze. It's ok. Take the sand paper and sand the tip of the pipe at an angle. Try to make it look even with the barrel.
When you're done. Wrap it in tape or paint it and stick it on the barrel.

The Additional Step to Coolness

Now, this is optional, but it does make it look cooler. Cut about an inch to an inch and a half of pipe. Unscrew the cap at the end. Take out the spring. Cut the marker to the size of the pipe. Push the spring as far down on the marker as you can get it. Now hot glue the pipe to the tip where the weight is. Put the marker into the pipe. And hotglue it on. But if your gonna do this, paint the pipe first. It makes the gun look more real.
