Are you sad about sending the same christmas cards every year, then we have a special selfmade one for you.

You Will Need

For this card you will need:
  • plywood (3mm)
  • laser cutter (or a jigsaw)
  • computer with a graphic program
  • colored paper
  • envelope

Design the Tree

You can design your own tree, or use the attached SVG file.
The hole (blue in our sketch) of the pieces must have the same width as the thickness of the plywood.
If you will use other than 3mm thick wood you must correct it.

After that we put the pieces in a rectangular shape with the dimension of a postcard (A6 in germany).

Cut the Plywood

We have the luck that we can use a lasercutter, so we don't need a jigsaw or a scrollsaw.

The Inner Envelope

If you put the pieces back in the rectangle and in the envelope, they would fall out and could break. So we made a inner envelope.

We print out some stars and a text on a colored piece of paper and cut it a little bit smaller like the width of the postcard. (our text means: open here and put together)

Than you wrap it close around the woodcard and stick the ends together.

Put It in the Envelope

Now you can make an individual text on an papercard and put it all together in an colored envelope.

And now, there is no hint outside that there is an wooden christmastree inside. The recipient of the card would be surprised :-)

And the postoffice would make no trouble, cause the weight is just 25gramm.

We hope you enjoy it.
greetings from germany
