Zipper Charm Necklace
Supplies
coat or jacket zipper
embellishments such as charms, beads, and buttons
jewelry findings: 2 ribbon crimp ends, 3 jump rings, round toggle clasp, and S hook
pliers
needle and matching thread
Open zipper. Sew embellishments on both sides of zipper with needle and thread. Avoid sewing through zipper teeth. You can sew embellishments in patterns (e.g., zig-zag or scallop) or just randomly as I have.
Use a jump ring to attach the charm which will be the zipper pull. Open the jump ring like a gate with the pliers or your fingers, put on the embellishment, attach to hole in zipper pull, and close the jump ring. I used a perfume bottle charm for the zipper pull.
Use pliers to attach the ribbon crimp ends to the top on both sides. Add a jump ring to each of the crimp ends. Open the jump rings, then attach the toggle ring to one side and S hook to the other side.
Finish the necklace. I sewed embellishments until the end of the zipper, but you can dangle embellishments from the bottom if you like.
Zip wide open. Place over head. Attach S hook to toggle ring. Zip up to a comfortable length. Admire self in mirror.
