Zip Tie Cable Management

With our lives reloving around electronic equipment and devices, we all know too well how easy it is to have cables cluttered in almost every room of the house. With just a few minutes and two items, the clutter that was once a mess of cables can be transformed into a neat and tidy arrangement tailored to your setup.

What You Will Need

• Scissors
• Cable Ties/Zip Ties:

Starting from the power outlet side of the cables or the power brick will allow you to make adjustments to the cable easily as you go along.

Arrange the cables alongside each other in the desired orientation and placement.

Loop a cable tie loosely around all the cables.

The number of cable ties required for each strap section will depend on the number of wires that will be in the section.

Example: 5 wires will require 5 cable ties, 3 wires will require 3 cable ties.

Loop another cable tie between the adjacent cables and around the cable strap looped around all the cables. Repeat this step until there is a cable tie between each cable.

Ensure the cable straps are looped between and around the wires in the same direction to create a uniform pattern along the length of the wire.

To tighten each section, pull tight the cable ties looped between each wire first, leaving a little slack to make any adjustments that may be needed later and pulling any slack from the wire behind the strap in the process. Once all the cable ties between all the wires have been pulled tight, pull the cable strap that runs around the outside of all the wires leaving just a little spack for any adjustments that may be needed later.

Repeat steps 2-4 along the length of the wire with 4 inches between each section. Wherever there is a change in the number of wires in the upcoming section, (eg: going from 5 to 6 wires or from 5 to 4 wires) simply move from 5 to 6 cable straps or 5 to 4 cable straps respectively.

With the entire length of the wire done, go through the length of the wire, pulling any excess wire through each cable strap section, align the wires evenly and pull tight the cable ties to permanently hold the wires in place.

The excess plastic from the cable ties can now be removed. Using a scissor or knife, cut away the excess plastic from each cable tie used in each strap section.

Throw the excess in the recycle bin, they will find a new life as cable ties for your next project.

At this stage, you are all done. If your wires are visible, they will no longer be an eye sour. If they are behind cabinets or furniture, they can be kept off the ground and in order.
