  • I am a 14 years old  student from Pathlight Secondary School in Singapore.
  • Creating an Eco-Friendly item to encourage students on home farming.
  • In today's increasingly environmentally conscious world and the Green Plan 2030 proposed to meet UN 17 SDGs goals, my classmates and me looked at home farming topic. Initially the aim was to create an eco-friendly farming pot out of recycled items to promote both
  • A week later, we discussed the progress of growth of our broccoli and kang-kong seeds using the 5 steps design thinking process.
  • We discovered most of us forgot to water the plant.
  • Final aim: To design a self-watering pot to improve the success rate of home farming using tinkercad and/or fusion360 software.

Supplies

Recycled home farming

  • Recycled used and clean water bottle
  • Box cutter
  • Waterproof tape
  • Recycled used and clean plastic bag

3D designing and printing:

  • Tinkercad account. Fusion360 educator account
  • A computer with internet access

  • Take a cylinder measuring 120mm (length), 120mm (breadth), 55mm (height) and another cylinder measuring 100mm (length), 100mm (breadth), 55mm (height).

3D Designing

  • Take another hole cylinder measuring 81mm (length), 83mm (breadth), 50mm (height) and put it in second cylinder. Use align function to position hole cylinder to middle and group them together
  • Take another hole cylinder measuring 100mm (length), 100mm (breadth), 56mm (height) and put it in first cylinder. Use align function to position hole cylinder to middle and group them together.

3D Designing

  • Join the first cylinder (at top) with the second cylinder (at bottom). Use align function and group afterwards.

  • Take hole cylinders measuring 2mm (length), 2mm (breadth), 40mm (height) and place them all over the pot. Group afterwards.

  • Take cuboid measuring 180mm (length), 130mm (breadth), 5mm (height) and hole cylinder measuring 120mm (length), 120mm (breadth), 20mm (height). Use align function to align cylinder to middle and group together to form the floating pad.
