Yoshimura R77 Slip on Install.

Yep so I have the opportunity to work on a new bike so Im going back to the basics and cover some of the things I have not in the past. Today, we are doing a simple exhaust install here at Techshop San Jose. I chose to use a Yoshimura R77 carbon fiber for this instructable.

First thing we need to do is remove the stock heat shield with an allen key.

Next we unbolt the stock exhaust clamp which is located between the exhaust pipe and headers.

After that, unbolt the exhaust from the exhaust hanger mount.

Go ahead and yank the whole can out!!

Ok ugly exhaust gone. Lets put together the new mounting bracket.

First, we remove the passenger foot rest which is also an exhaust hanger.

Then we remove the 2 mounting bracket bolts from the exhaust hanger.

Lets put together the new mounting bracket along with its new hardware.

Re install passenger foot rest.

Ok this is easy. Just install the rubber heat shield onto the supplied muffler clamp. Remember to remove protective film when finished.

Lets slide on our new exhaust into our existing header. Dont forget to use the new clamp provided.

Tighten the clamp to secure the connection.

After securing the connection, remove the muffler springs so that you can twist and adjust the exhaust so that it will line up with the mounting bracket. (Yoshimura provides this tool and is included)

Once you have everything lined up, tighten the mounting bracket bolt and re hook the springs.

Now I know your gonna want to turn on the bike and hear her new sexy voice. NOT SO FAST!!! Take some rubbing alcohol and wipe down the stainless steel areas of the pipe. This will clean off the finger prints off the surface which you put there in the first place while installing the exhaust.

After that turn her on and hear her roar. A weird smell from the exhaust is normal for the first 10 miles.
