We all need a place start, depending on how big the diameter you want the yo yo feel free to draw your circles. The best idea is to dimension them so you know how much cardboard you need. Maybe even do some 3D modeling to conceptualize on how you should make the yo-yo.

My dimensions are about 2 1/8" for the end part of the yo-yo with an 1/8" hole for the 2 inner circles with about .7"
for the connector.

Cutting

*This is the part where that circular object is useful*

Draw 4 circles *should all be about the same size*

Make your circles according to your preferable dimensions, then proceed to cut

save 2 circles from the 4

Punch a hole big enough for your pencil for the 2 circles.

Hot Glue

Hot glue your inner circle to connect to the outer circle, continue this to the other side.

Cut Your #2 Pencil

Mark your pencil to make the cut. Make sure its big enough to give room for the string, but not too big! Once the cut has been made, sand off the cut piece of the pencil to smooth its surfaces.

Make one loop around the pencil then hot glue it. Make sure the string is secured so that when the yo-yo is in use the string doesn't break off.

Next is to hot glue the hole in the inner circle with the pencil and string. Continue this for the other inner circle
