Pour some of the glue into the cup.

Cut a piece of string no longer than 10 inches long (long pieces are difficult to work with)

Put it into the glue and poke it with the stick until the string is completely covered.

Slide Slide Slip and Slide!

Pickup the string and without squeezing, slide your fingers down the yarn to remove excess glue.

Place your votive on its side and place the yarn in the design of your choice. Keep adding glue soaked pieces of string until you've filled every space.

Also, you can use shorter pieces of string to fill in small spaces.

Only doing the 2 sides at a time works best.

I found that laying it on the side keeps it from sliding down.

Drying Times

Let it dry overnight and then, design the next two sides. Waiting for it to dry is important because it will stick to your surface and get ruined if you lay it down while it's still wet.

*Tip: If you can't wait overnight, a hairdryer can speed things up

Almost Done!

Now that it's dry, you can safely do the remaining two sides.

Enjoy!

Hooray! It's dry! Now you can add a tea light and enjoy your new motive or give it to your mom or someone :)

Extras

I've also done designs where I painted over the whole thing and pulled the string off later but, I didn't feel that the designs were as vivid. If you try that, it still will look nice though!
