Yao Jun's LED Pop-up Character Card
Create a LED Pop-up card based on your favourite character or things.
Supplies
You will need:
- 3V Battery
- Paper - 180gsm
- Pencil
- Markers
- Chibitronics copper tape and LEDs
- double-sided tape
- Masking tape
- scissors
Brainstorm Ideas
Think of what to draw and what pop up folds you want to use. Sketch out a rough plan to visualise better.
Some of the pop-up folds used in this pop-up card sample are zig zag fold and v-folds.
Next, decide on the location of the LED lights to paste on.
Design and Create the Pop-up Folds
Draw out and colour pop-up elements on a separate piece of paper.
Make sure to create tab folds at the bottom of your drawings to stick on the card later.
Sample: zig-zag fold for the SG MRT train, v-fold for the building.
Cut out your drawings, then position and paste it on the card.
Outline Parallel Paper Circuit
Draw with pencil how your want to lay out your circuit.
Use a parallel circuitry if you use more than 1 LED sticker.
Then, paste the copper sticker according to your circuit layout drawing and paste the LED sticker after that.
Position your 3V battery on the corner fold to connect the circuit.
Paste Paper Circuit Behind Pop-up Card
Use tape to stick the corners of the pop-up card and paper circuit together.
Light up the LED lights by folding in the flap with the battery.
You have completed your LED pop-up card!
