Xbox One Audio Hookup Using Toslink (Fiber)

IMG_2121.JPG

Greetings! I wanted to hook up the Xbox One to an older receiver that did not have any HDMI inputs. HDMI uses digital signals for both the audio and video. I had to split the audio from the HDMI and covert it to analog, since the receiver only understands analog signals. I'll show you how I made it work.

Connect the Cables

Take the Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable and connect it to the S/PDIF port on the back of the Xbox One. Connect the other end of the cable to the Toslink port on the Digital Optical Toslink RCA Converter. Connect the RCA Cables to the converter and the other end into the receiver.

The digital audio signal will travel from the Xbox One from the S/PDIF port through the fiber cable and it will reach the converter box Toslink port. The signal will get converted from digital to analog and travel out using the RCA cables and into the receiver.

You may have to configure the audio settings in the Xbox One if it does not automatically detect the fiber in the S/PDIF port.

This configuration works great and sounds amazing!
