Wooden Wine Glass Rack
This is a simple bar to hold wine glasses. It sits nicely on any wine bottle and is a classy display.
Materials
pencil & ruler
1/4" poplar wood
sandpaper
curved file
drill press with 1 1/2" and 3/4" drill bits
band saw
Cut and Mark Wood
Cut wood to approximately 12" x 2.5". Mark center and ends to drill holes. The end holes were drilled 1 1/4" from the edge.
Drill Center Hole
Drill the center hole with a 1 1/2" bit.
Drill Side Holes
Drill both side holes with a 3/4" bit.
Cut
Using a band saw, make two cuts into each small circle to create a slit for the wine glass. The slit can be any length, as long as it is wider than the width of the stem of a wine glass.
Wood Burn
Use a curved file to slightly round all the edges and use sandpaper to smooth the entire piece of wood. Using a wood burning pen, burn a design into the wood. A grape wine can be created by using three different tips on the pen.
Stain
Stain the wood. I used Minwax Wood Finish: Gunstock 231. Follow the directions on the label.
