First cut two groves 3mm wide the length of the board.

Then cut the 600mm timber into 2 X 200mm and 2 X 100mm.

Mark the 200mm sides 19mm from both ends.

Cut out housing joints from both ends.

Cut 2 pieces of 3mm ply 200mm X 100mm.

Cut along one of the 3mm groves at the end (to be used for the handle)

Glue and nail one corner together.

Fit the base in the bottom grove and glue and nail the other corners.

The Lid

Slide the other 200mm X 100mm piece of ply into the top grove.

Using the piece you cut from the end glue it onto the top to be used as a handle.

Finishing

I sanded it with 180 grit sandpaper to it was smoooooth and finished it boiled linseed oil.

I like the oil as it gives a nice natural finish.

Once it was oiled I gave it a polish with dry paper towel.
