Here is a small tutorial of the creation of the pulse rifle of the alien film, it is made of wood. Took me a month of working on it, but as always I'm taking my time, you can do it in two weeks. It is actual size, I used reference pictures for the details. Have fun !

Supplies

- mdf 5 mm

- eva foam 12mm and 2mm

- dremel

- laser cut

- paint

- brush

The Drawing on the Software

The first part is to draw all the parts that will be cut by the laser cutter. Take the time to look at the weapon from the right and left side, draw only the main shapes, the outlines. You will create the volumes later, for now we are thinking in 2D. Once the designs are finished send them to the laser cutter, I use a trotec. I'm sorry, I don't have pictures of the pulse rifle cut out but of my blaster, it's the same thing.

Glue the Parts

Then glue all the parts with wood glue, wait for it to dry for 24 hours. You are going to have a rectangular rifle, it does not matter, we will give the shapes later with the dremel. Follow the reference images to glue the parts correctly.

Carve the Forms

This step is the longest because you have to sculpt the shapes of the rifle with the dremel. Use the reference images for this, take your time, make your creation look as much like the original as possible. With the dremel, sculpt the small details, all the rounded, pay attention to the shape of the butt, at the top of the weapon which is curved.

Add Details

I used EVA foam to make the small details or the rounded parts, like the stock in the front. You can cut these parts with a scissors, you can also work them with the dremel. Glue them with hot glue and a hot glue gun.

Base Painting

With a spray paint, paint the parts in green and the parts in black, quite simply.

Paint Details to Make It Real

The last step is to paint the gun realistically. To do this, I will use a painting technique called "weathering", I use metal or aluminum effect paints from the ak interactive brand. Use your paintbrushes to make the details of damaged metal or plastic. Use reference images to make it look as close as possible to the real gun.
Hope this has helped you and given you some ideas! Have fun !
