Wooden Coasters

These DIY wooden coasters are a great way to make a gift for someone or just keep for yourself! They are very cheap and can be made in just a few minutes. I find that giving them in packs of 5 is a great way to give them out.
I also made a YouTube video of this: https://youtu.be/0TbhsqePE2U
What You Need
Items:
- Sheet of plywood
- ConTact paper
Tools:
- Wood cutting saw
- Routing tool
- Colored pencils
- Scissors
- Pen/Pencil
- Ruler
- 150 grit sandpaper
Draw the Lines

Take your ruler and mark out squares for your coasters. I find 3"x3" works well for me.
Cut the Wood
Now, use your saw to cut the wood shapes. I used my rotary tool with a wood cutting blade for this step.
Sanding & Routing

When I cut out the wood, the edges were very rough. I took the 150 grit sandpaper and sanded down the edges until they were smooth. Then I shaved any little splinters sticking up off the tops of the wood by lightly sanding down the top and bottom.
I used my rotary tool with the grinding wheel to route the corners of the coaster.
Decorating

I used the colored pencils to draw designs on the coasters.
ConTact

I traced the tops of the coasters on the ConTact paper and then cut out the paper to the right size. I peeled off the sticky part and stuck it to the top of the coaster to give it a shiny 'finished' feel.
