Wood and Steel Sidetables

Hello Instructables!  These sidetables were made by my father 15 years ago.  Everything was scrap, except for the quarter inch steel used in the base, which only cost $30.  The steel pipes were scrap schedule 40 piping, and the wood would have been used for firewood.  As you can see, both table-tops are cut from the part of the tree where the trunk splits in two, creating a Y shape.  This give each table an oval shape and two knots in the center.  The wood is stained with pecan colour, and is covered in three coats of verethane laquer.  The steel is painted with rust proof black paint.  They are very simple, and because they only have one leg, they do not take up as much room as a traditional side table, and allow us to keep the magazine basket underneath.  The bottom or the base is one square foot of quarter inch steel, and the top is 6 square inches of quarter inch steel.  Please vote for me in the I Made It Photo Contest, and rate if you enjoyed the instructable.  Thank You!
