Wood Sunglass

I have always wanted a pare of wood sunglasses but being a poor college student didn't allow that. So I went on instructables to find a way to make a pair. I came across snabladask diy sunglass and was inspired to make my own version (https://www.instructables.com/id/wooden-sunglasses/)

For this instructable you will need

-superglue(at least 4oz) $5

-sunglasses $25

-wood veneer(you want a veneer that is strait grain and flexible) $20 for a sample pack

-Dremel tool with sanding disks

-wood finish(walnut oil and bee's wax)

-about 20 clothes pins

-small screw driver

-sand paper(80, 120, 220)

-scissor

-pliers

You will need to remove anything you can from your sunglass (frames, logos, lens)

I picked a white oak veneer because I liked the way it looked with my brown lens. You will need to ruff cut your veneer to the size of your frames. then lightly sand your frames so the super glue has a better surface to stick to, next apply super glue to the front of your frames. Gently place your frames on the veneer and use the clothes to clamp it down. Give the glue a few minute to dry before touching them again.

Trim your veneer as close as you can with your scissors then use your Dremel tool to sand your veneer flush to the frames

This step can get a bit tricky. You are going to want to pre-cut strips a little bigger then the width of your glasses. Then ruff up the edge you are gluing with sand paper, apply the super glue, and clamp(if you have any really tight turns you may have to use pliers to help get then)

once you have sanded everything sanded flush with your dremel it is time to glue on and logos and apply the finish. I used walnut oil then bee's wax to finish my wood. Now it is time to reassemble the sunglass (becareful when putting the lens back in it may take some resanding to get them to fit)

Its time to hit the beach and be the envy of your friends.

I made this project with budget in mind. It only cost me about $40
