I love Halloween. I love the movies, the candy, and the costumes... But I think above all, I love decorating my home with Halloween decorations every year. That includes store-bought decor, but also, of course, handmade decorations.

These little twig broomsticks are the perfect witchy addition to any Halloween decor. And they're so easy to make. I made three of them earlier while watching TV.

Supplies

  • Twigs / sticks
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Yarn / string / wire / twine
  • Little charms / pendants / buttons / beads

Gather Your Supplies

Go on a walk and gather some small sticks and twigs of various sizes. After your walk, separate them into different size groups. Then get your hot glue gun, a few hot glue sticks, some kind of string, and some kind of charms or pendants.

Start Glueing

The bigger sticks you grabbed will be used for the handles of the broomsticks and the smaller twigs will be the bristles. Using your hot glue gun, glue the smaller twigs to the handle. After you're happy with how full the bristles look, tie a piece of string around the smaller twigs. I used yarn for one and embroidery thread for the other two, but you could also use wire, twine, or whatever else you have on hand.

Another Version

For this version, I used super thin twigs for the bristles. It just depends on your preferences. You can also add beads or charms to your little broom for some extra witchy aesthetic. You can either tie them on or hot glue them directly to the broom. Experiment with different twig sizes and lengths too. Just have fun with it!

All Done!

It's so easy to make several of these in one sitting. Maybe in the future I'll make a larger version to hang on my wall. For now, though, these cute little broomsticks will sit on my bookshelf next to some other witchy, Halloween-y decor. I love witch-crafting! ;)
