Wireless Mouse Rechargable Mod

Hi everyone!

So, everyone of us, who has a wireless mouse, one day wakes up, gets the mouse and obviously the battery is dead, or about to.

And if you're lucky enough, you have a spare battery, but if you don't, either work with the trackpad, or runs to your local store to get a battery.

The idea from this Instructable, began with some cheap xbox 360 controller batteries that i bought a few years ago and never used them,

So one day, just for curiosity, I open one of them, and found 2 batteries inside!

That gets me the idea to use one as replacement for my wireless mouse battery.

Lets get to it!

Materials:

• One wireless mouse,
• One cheap xbox 360 battery, I get mine from here
• Small wires
  

Tools

• Soldering Iron
• Utility Knife
• Hot Glue Gun
• Screwdrivers

First, remove the battery cover and the dead batery. Usually, there are some screws, hidden under plastic, so take that apart too.

Remove all the screws you find, and very carefully, split the mouse to get the inside parts.

Put it aside one moment.

Now, use a slot screwdriver to open the xbox controller battery.

Be carefull!! The wires inside are very thin, and you could make some damage on them.

Inside, you will see 2 batterys connected on series with 2 red and 2 black wires on each end. One pair is for the USB charging port, and the other one, is for the charging led.

Remove one battery, cutting the wires on one end, and cut the wire/metal between the 2 batterys.

Also, take out the circuit insde the mouse too.

If you take a close look on the mouse bottom plastic, you'll see that the battery compartment is isolated from the inside.

We'll need make a hole, to fit the battery wires on the inside.

Also, you'll notice that the battery is a litle shorther than a AA one, so we need to add something to keep it steady.

I use some plastic tube to get this.

Once the battery is fixed, take the mouse cover, and make a hole on the back (I usee a small plillips scredriver), to fit the charging led.

Use the utility knife to make a square hole to fit the charging port.

Now: the battery compartment, has 2 spiral wires, one from the positive, and one from the negative.

Our battery has 2 wires to be solder to each side, so make sure you respect the correct polarity.

Add some termofit to isolate the solder points.

Now, fit the chargng led trough the back hole, and place the charging port on the correct position.

Add some hot glue if needed and close the mouse cover, and put the screw.

And It Is Done!

Now, you just have to connect the usb cable, and let it charge a couple hours.
