Wire Snowflake

In this instructable I will show you how I re-purposed some computer wire to crochet a snowflake.  I disassembled an old keyboard a while ago to use for another project. I was happy to be able to put to use the remaining part of that old thing to make a pretty Christmas ornament.  If you don't have an old keyboard to disassemble you can find the wire in other computer cables or from  broken headphone/earphone.

• Old computer cables or headphone wires etc.
• Beads
• Pliers
• Crochet hook

I had some cable left over from an old keyboard that I took apart for another project.  Inside the cable I had four wires plus another which didn't have a plastic covering, this consisted of a bundle of 10 thin wires.  I separated the thin wires into bundles of three and used that to crochet my snowflake.  To connect the wires to make it longer just twist the ends together. 

• Make a slip knot to start crocheting, I left a bit of a tail so I can add a bead later
• Ch 4
• Sl st into first chain
• Ch 4, add a bead, ch 5
• *Dc into ring, ch 3 and add bead
• Ch 3, dc into ring
• Repeat 3 times from *
• Ch 3, add bead and dc in the ch 9 (ch4 +5)

You should now have 6 petals with beads at the tips

• *Sc to dc post, ch 9, add bead ch1, dc in chain before bead, ch 7, sc around same dc post
• Ch4, add bead, ch 4, sl st into chain with bead on next petal from round 1
• Ch4, add bead, ch 4, sc in dc post
• Repeat from *
• Tie off

Add a bead in the centre of the snowflake using the tail left from the slip knot make at the start. Add some string to hang your snowflake.
