Wine Quilt
This is a quilt I made for my husband's 50th birthday, with the help of my bee. He enjoys the study and experience of fine wine, so I thought this quilt would be a good gift for him. The Wine quilt is a "strip" quilt, meaning each strip was added above or below another strip, and quilted as it was added. The quilt was started and finished by me, and each month, a member of my bee would take the quilt and add another strip, using fabrics I had selected. I began the quilt with the center strip of grapes on the grapevines. Then I passed it on to the next person in the bee to add a strip. Each month there would be a different assignment, for example, you had to use triangles, or you had to use a pattern relating to the theme (thus, you see "Drunkard's Path" in it). The top strip is a fabric rendition of a vineyard in California. Each strip has so much detail, that it takes a while to appreciate it!
