I travel very often with Indian Railways in the Slipper coach and General Buggies where no electricity is at your bedside or in the compartment, and during a long tour mine as well as everyone's phone usually discharges. These smartphones have a large capacity battery but their consumption because of Social and music life is big too. I was working on a smaller prototype for the Contest, but now I think, I can make a better one. So made this all-in-one wind turbine power bank. Mobile phones are indispensable while you are traveling, especially on a train. However, in India, you will find either no socket for charging your mobile on a train or you may find just 2 damaged sockets at the end of the compartment, while every passenger carries a mobile these days. So, what to do for charging your mobile while you are on the train and your battery runs out of power? The most powerful alternative way is to use the strong wind coming inside through the windows and doors of the train. The outside wind blowing in the earth’s frame of reference is almost all the time much slow as compared to the speed of the train which goes up to 100km/hour most of the time. Hence, in the train’s frame of reference, the pseudo wind which enters the window or passes by the window has nearly the same average speed, i.e. 20-60km/hour or so. A wind with this much speed is strong enough to rotate a wind turbine with high enough rpm and torque so that even a small wind turbine can rotate a load of small dynamo for charging small batteries. And this can be easily used to recharge your mobile. The mentioned design uses this wind energy and converts it into usable power, which can be directly fed into a mobile phone or even can use for charging a laptop. To accommodate the frequent change in the wind direction, a gyroscopic joint has been given in it. It can be completely disassembled, thereby making it lighter in weight and portable, fulfilling its basic function of being a travel charger.

Advantages

1. It is Portable.

2. Light in weight.

3. Not affected by the weather.

4. Uses0 Eco-friendly energy for working.

Application

1. It is used for charging mobile phone batteries.

2. It can be used for charging laptops, and MP3 players.

3. It can be used as a power source for any small electronic equipment or device.

The Old CPU Fan is all we can find in a local hardware store or we already have a few of them with us if we ever worked on an electronics project. So here we are gonna use it to harness the wind energy while we are traveling or moving through the vehicle. It can be useful in that scenario too where we live in wind-prone areas.

Building the Rectifier Module for Our Power Output From FAN

Fullwave-Bridge-Rectifier.png

We all know about Rectifiers. A rectifier is an electrical device that converts alternating current, which periodically reverses direction, to direct current, which flows in only one direction. The reverse operation is performed by the inverter. The process is known as rectification since it "straightens" the direction of the current.

It will help us to correct our mistake if we connected the FAN wires in a different orientations and hence saving our circuitry from damage.

Toroid for Our Project

large (4).jpg
toroid-ki-paribhasha-kya-hai.png

Toroid will help us boost the electrical current in our circuit so that even the low voltage like 2v from the fan were coming means we can step it up to 7V for suitability and we will further use the stable 5V converter to stabilize the voltage as we know our mobile phone needs 5V to get charged.

In mathematics, a toroid is a surface of revolution with a hole in the middle. The axis of revolution passes through the hole and so does not intersect the surface. For example, when a rectangle is rotated around an axis parallel to one of its edges, then a hollow rectangle-section ring is produced. A toroid is a coil of insulated or enameled wire wound on a donut-shaped form made of powdered iron. A toroid is used as an inductor in electronic circuits, especially at low frequencies where comparatively large inductances are necessary.

We are gonna copper insulated wire of 1mm thickness with two wires at the same time and the full revolution will be approximately 30 not more or less than that. so that we can achieve the factor of 5V-7V in low to high thrust.

In varrow/Perf board mount all the components as per the circuit diagram and assemble the components in any box or use the 3D printed casing for your project mentioned below.

If you do have any issue assembling/making this project then please do let me know. I will love to help you dears. I will design the custom Box for you, just drop me email or message through this web portal.
