Lowie Soenens project one video

I made a homemade wildlife detection system.

Using materials I had at home.

For Project one (Project given by HOWEST)

In on the following link you will find a short video i made for this project:

Supplies

The tools you will require are:

  • 3D printer
  • soldering iron
  • soldering tin
  • screwdrivers
  • Volt meter or Multimeter
  • (optional) Heat shrink tubing

For Supplies and cost (at time of making this) see attached files.

You can make your own free (at time of making) dataset on Roboflow by creating your own account.

You can visit the dataset I have made using the folowing link:

Generating the AI

I generated my AI using YOLOv8.

But at time of release there will most likely be better models

For this you will need to get a casing (for waterproofnes) I used an Halogen floadlight.

A PIR sensor was used for power consumption reduction.

A battery so that you can power everything and place it in the wild.

For the battery it is also IMPORTANT that u use a voltage regulator

for regulating the correct voltage to the components.

(Make sure the raspberry pi gets 5.5V and the PIR 3.3V you can check this by using a Volt meter or Multimeter)

Of course i used a raspberry pi 5 to be able to send the footage to my computer via a network.

After this I took the correct measurements of the casing and the components

and made a fitting 3D print using a 3D printer for inside the casing.

The code I used for this part u can find in the folowing file (its in python).

The biggest part of making the server part and LED/Buzzer part is the coding wich you can find in the following files:

Assembling

Then just assemble everything
