Why Linux Is Amazing Compared to Windows
In this instructable I will tell you five reasons linux is better than windows. Now, I know there are some die-hard windows fans out there so I have to say that this is "my" opinion and that you can do whatever you choose. I will state clear comparisons based on facts.
Customization.
With windows, you are limited to the desktop everyone "loves" and knows. And the Metro interface of windows8, it's like running a smartphone on an intel i7 you might as well put ARMs in those computers. Linux comes with so many different desktop environments, GNOME, KDE, XFCE, Unity, AWSM, and many more. All of those can be customized even further with animatons, themes, and desktop plugins (Widgets).
Flavors.
Windows is windows there is no choice but basic, student/home, pro, and ultimate. With linux there are so many different custom types, I cant even list them all! The attached image is the linux family tree as of july 2013, people keep coming up with new distributions every day.

Hardware.
Windows is constantly getting bloated, it is needing faster and better hardware to run properly. As for linux, any distribution, besides hardcore gaming and video editing, will run great on a PentiumII. If you tried to run windows7 on a pentium you would probably get stuck in a "boot loop".
Speed.
Windows will only update windows, not your games, not your adobe, not your Dropbox etc. To update these programs you are forced to run tons of junkware that bogs down your system, you might find you have to reinstall windows sometimes! With linux, its speed doesnt change, the system is constantly optimizing itself. Linux doesnt even have a registry! Linux will also update all your software in one place(ALL OF IT)!
Community.
Yea, sure, there is forums.microsoft.com but what do all those people know about something a corporate business created!? Linux was built from the ground up by members of the community, its like the USA without the political problems, "By The People For The People". The people who built your linux distro. from the ground up will most likely have a website where the post all of their release notes, a forum, and even a help center that you dont need to wait on hold for an hour to get your answer.
