In today's story, one of the things that the clown activists used in their protests was white flowers. White flowers can be used to symbolize peace, so that seems appropriate at this moment in time. Here's how to make a bouquet of your own white paper flowers.

(Of course, you can make your flowers whatever color you like!)

Supplies

-construction paper

-scissors

-glue

-tape

Cut Your Stems.

Take the piece of construction paper you would like to use for your flower stems. I used green paper, but your flower stems can be any color if you like.

Fold the paper in half lengthwise, then cut a fringe on the side with the fold. The width of the cuts doesn't matter too much. Mine were about 1/4-1/2" wide. Leave about 2 inches of uncut edge on the other side of the paper.

Roll Up the Bouquet.

Roll up the fringed paper, leaving it folded in half when you do so. Tape the end into a tube. Gently fluff the stems out so that they look more like a bouquet. Set the stems aside.

Cut Out Flower Pieces.

There are several ways you can make paper flower blossoms, and I'll show a few here. You can be as creative as you like, though!

The easiest shape to start with is a circle. Your circles don't need to be perfect; in nature, flowers are never perfect. You can also cut out heart shapes to be petals. You can make as many flowers as you have stems, if you want, but I decided to make five flowers.

I cut out five orange centers for my flowers, circles that were much smaller than the white circles.

Glue on the centers of the flowers. Then you can cut the petals in all kinds of ways! You can do small or large fringe. You can cut shapes. You can bend the petals to give them shape. Be creative!

Put some glue on your flower center. Lay the heart petals, pointing inward, in a circle on the center. Add more glue if you need. Once the glue dries, flip it over to reveal your flower!

Put a bit of glue on a stem and press a flower to it. Repeat with the other flowers.

Enjoy Your Bouquet!

It should stand on its own, but you could also put it into a vase or a pot.
