Which Liquid Reacts Better to a Vinca Plant

Supplies

  • 2x Tray to hold the cups
  • 1x ruler to measure the plant growth 
  • 16x labels to identify the liquids in the pots
  • 16x Pots ( 7 cm long and 10 cm width) ( 0.5 oz)
  • 16x Vinca baby plants 
  • 18 mL of Lipton black tea per day (10 bags in total)
  • 18 mL of instant coffee per day (170 g)
  • 18 mL of aquarium H20 per day (1 liter)
  • 18 mL of tap water per day ( 1 liter)
  • Fertile soil ( 10.6 oz for each pot) (Total weight: 169.6 oz )
  • 1x Measuring cup ( 500 mL)
  • 1x pair of scissors
  • 1x Notebook
  • 1x Camera

Collect 16 pots of 7 cm long and 10 cm width and a tray that can fit all 16 plants; place 16 organic pots in the tray.

Take a pair of scissors and cut 16 pieces of tape of your choice. Using a permanent marker, write instant coffee in four different pieces of tape, Lipton black tea in four more pieces of tape, tap water in four more pieces of tape, and aquarium H2O in four more pieces of tape. One tape per cup should be placed on the outside of each of the 16 cups.

Fill each of the 16 containers with 10.6 oz of dirt using a measuring cup and with a tablespoon, press and pressure the soil to stick it to the pot.

In the center of the soil, open a little spot and put one Vinca baby plant in each of the 16 organic pots, then cover the roots up and with a tablespoon, press and pressure the soil again to stick it to the pot

Get a measuring cup and pour 1000 mL of water into a kettle, turn it on and wait for the kettle to notify you that the water has already heated up.

Pour the hot water carefully into the measuring cup and add it to a separate bowl

 Open your 16 bags of Lipton tea and gently insert the bags into the water after that, wait 3-5 minutes.

Stir the black tea with a spoon clockwise slowly.

Wash the measuring cup

repeat steps 5-8 with the instant coffee

Using a measuring cup pour 1000 ml of Aquarium water into a pot, then repeat the process three times more with the same substance but for three other plants, rinse the measuring cup, and repeat the process three times more for each of the substances.

Keep your 16 plants in the same place in the sun for the entire four weeks. The direction in which you will place your plant is determined by the direction in while the sun shines in your area, but make sure it is in a spot where the sun shines for most of the day so it receives the same amount of light.

Every day, with the help of a measuring cup add 75 mL of tap water to each of the 4 plants and repeat this process with the aquarium water, instant coffee,Lipton black tea, with other four plants, 4 pots for each of the substances added to the plant.

 Throughout the four weeks of testing, repeat step 13 of the process.

 Each 2 days make sure to measure the plant with the ruler from the base to the highest point, video it, and write observations in a notebook.
