When Makita BL1813G Batteries Won't Fit the Makita Site Radio
The batteries for the Makita Cordless 18V Li-Ion Combi Drill HP457D do not fit the docking for the site radios, something to do with the fact that this drill is marketed to DIY stores and Amazon for DIY use. This is very annoying as I did not know this before buying the radio. I've seen other instructables showing how to cut restrictor tabs off tools to get different batteries in but did not want to do this.

This is my drill battery.
The Battery Housing of the Radio
This is the back of the radio where 3 different types of battery fittings could be used. (But not mine!) The yellow one is the type my battery might fit to if i had a different, professional model. The positive contact is on the right.
DIY Connectors
I simply 'corded' similar size plates to the radio battery contact plates using picture frame clips and some electronics black and red single cable. I used duct tape to secure temporarily to test if it worked.
Hook Up
The clips slot into the positive a negative contacts easily.
Cradle
The battery sits well in the sprung cradle bellow when stationary but would probably move around in transit.
Power
It works fine. I'll make some better removable contacts with mini croc clips soldered on to the picture frame clips at some point or just keep it like this it seems to work fine. Glad I don't have to get a different radio or drill.
