Let's talk about the Simple machine that began our journey and igniting the curiosity of Travelling.....

It began just before the beginning of 4500 BC, when the first use of wheel was employed to help our understanding towards machine that would make our job easier as the definition of a simple machine suggest that the machines that would make our work easier by employing or magnifying our force that we would occasionally apply to it.

So, did this idea of employing wheel in our daily life just appeared out of thin air.......

Well, actually this idea came from our rational and practical approach towards the course of human history and this is however not the very first case of it but it was the first step towards a future of possibilities, little did the people of that time imagined that we would become such advance......

what are we going to learn from Wheel and Axle as a simple machine....?

Traditionally, we would start by giving a definition but a this would not be our ideology here, we would first start with where this is used the most and few example's of it are:

  • The blade that is used in our grinders/ mixer's/blender's( well, we now know that why our milkshake always taste so good)
  • Our car's are based on the principle of Wheel and Axle( if i am being late for school, i can always drive faster...)
  • Wheel began the curiosity to invent new machines and inspire new ideology for exceptional theories........(Now I have got to remember those line by line...huh...what a task to do...if this was not the case i would've completed my Instructable......)

what is our Aim of this project...?

Our aim is to see how we can use wheel and axle in one of those examples i mentioned above and simply learn about them in a interesting way by using the technology we have like 3D Designing. In this Exciting Instructable, I am going to show you how we can design a stone age inspired wheel and axle kart.......

So lets begin...

Supplies

Lets get started with the project......

You don't really need any supplies to complete the project, for your convenience guys I will surely add the model file for you download and feel free to download it and show your own creativity after all this is not just a boring article on Wheel and Axle.

However, I have designed it to my local 3D printing services.

Printer = Custom made printer

Dimensions of build plate =150*150*200 mm

nozzle size = 1.75 mm

Standard filament = PLA (Dia. 1.75mm)

Sketchup version used = 2017 make

As you have gone through the above fantastic and energetic Introduction, so lets move one with how we can design a small car.

Let's Start Rocking Our Creativity....

Having the Right Perspective is the key to getting the right Design..

As our theme for the project is based on stone age and an era where the only place for a wheel was in potter's pot making wheel but we as a young creator(supposing we were born at that time...) have tried to make a bullock cart for the people for the purpose of transporting good from one tribe to another.( Oh gosh ....while i am writing this i am missing the internet..).

So, a Simple yet strong Design will serve that Purpose so we are going to make one....

I first started with a plain rectangular base for the cart and as my very own creativity i added few curves at four corners of the base, I would not recommend following my every instructions but would suggest to add your very own flare and creativity. then i gave it a thought what i can make to hold the axle of the wheel and nothing really flashed my mind until i was sipping a good cup of coffee.

This design was the first to come and i decided not to make it too complicated but make it simple....so i remained with it and it seems good to go....

We will talk more about the wheel and axle mechanism in the next step....

Understanding the Wheel and Axle Mechanism

We came around the most important question here, which is how is the wheel help us moving...and what role is Axle playing ?

The wheel act as a circular disc moving in with the synchronization of the cart, however i am not using any special terminology here so as to make it easier for new people coming here and reading this article and i pretty much know that you are very well versed with google.

The wheel push the floor below it to create a force opposite of where it's direction is and thus, helping the cart attached it to move. however, the role of the axle is very important here as it act as a pivot point for the wheel to attain its circular movement, it is freely attached from one end and the other end is usually attached to the wheel for its movement.

Could it have been possible with wheel and axle...?

well, it certainly would not be possible but before the invention of wheel dragging and sliding were the only methods to move one object from one place to another(I think they certainly had great aptitude to find such a use of a wheel..).

Few things i want to mention about the Design......

  • The Design is a very basic design that anyone can come up with and the motive of this Instructable is to make the concept of simple machine's easier than ever and give the reader a very new approach to the traditional one. ( That's one of the reason i don't like my textbook's and I would rather take a comic any day)
  • You guys can go up with any design you want to for understanding the topic.....However, if you guys download my design, I thank you from the deepest of my heart and please continue reading my articles. Stay updated for new content.....

Let's move forward with our project and get it printed in time.....

  1. The axle that is attached to the wheel is inserted to the slot that is provided on the base on the car and make sure that it is properly attached before testing it....
  2. Repeat the first step and insert those to the leftover slots.....on the base of the car....

I don't have a 3D printed but I do have access to my local centers for that and i can give you the information regarding that....

Printer Size :- 200x200x200

Nozzle size - 0.04mm

General Filament used - PLA

Link's to the file's are:-

One of them is a .skp file and other one is a .stl file format based.....

A Message from the author :-

My friend if you have read this Instructable I want to thank you from reading this in your spare and creative time........and as this was my first Instructable, I don't know whether you liked this or not, do lets me know in the comment sections and if you have any ideas what i can do next, i would be more than happy to do that.

STAY HEALTHY AND CREATIVE ALL THE TIME
