What to Do When Your Favorite Pet Dies...
Seven year old Pomeranian, Pinky was our favorite pet. We never chained her unless it was necessary and she used to roam around the garden enjoying the flowers, chasing away birds & squirrels and playing with objects lying around in the garden.
When we brought another puppy to be used as a guard dog for our garden, Pinky tried to boss over the puppy but faced fierce fight from the little one. As the hostility continued we provided separate living areas for both so that one could not enter into another's territory.
When we had to be away from home to attend a family function, the other dog somehow managed to enter into Pinky's den, attacked and seriously injured her. After a couple of days of suffering, Pinky died.
What to do when your favorite pet dies ?
I planned to bring her back to life in another form... I planted a fruit tree over her grave !
The Attacker
These are some of the pictures of our another pet dog who attacked and injured Pinky. She is a hunter. She eliminated almost all big rats from the garden and killed few snakes also. Whenever we go to the garden she runs in front of us protectively. Somehow she was very jealous of Pinky and did not like her at all.
A Decent Burial for Pinky
I have selected a burial place among lily flowers in our garden. Dug a pit suitable for Pinky and laid her to rest. Then filled earth in layers, watered each layer and packed thoroughly.
Our other dog was watching the funeral silently. It seemed that she realized the reason for Pinky's death and short of feeling guilty for what she did.
I bought a Pomegranate sapling from a nearby nursery and planted over the grave.
The Growth of Pomegranate Tree
We took proper care of the Pomegranate tree. The first picture shows the plant after a month of planting and the second picture shows the growth after about six months.
After an year of planting the tree started flowering. The first year we did not have much flowers and fruits
Flowers and Fruits
Now it is almost two and a half years since Pinky was buried. The Pomegranate sapling has grown into a big shrub and there are lots of flowers & fruits.
Our Pinky is alive in the form of the Pomegranate shrub and will be remembered for ever...
