A simple and easy build that helps when needed to change my chuck safely.
Isn't something complicated but can do the job good enough

and without any damage to chuck or to cone.

Construction time 15 minutes.

Tools and Materials

Welding Cutting and Grinding Tools are Dangerous!

Do it at your own Risk!

Use Always the Suitable Protective Equipment.


Tools

Angle grinder 115mm / 4 ½” or 125mm / 5”

Cutting disk & Grinding disk

according to your grinder ø115 x 1mm / ø4 ½” x 0.04” or ø125 x 1mm / ø 5” x 0.04”

Drill press

Drill bits: Ø6 - 10 - 13 - 16.5mm

Materials

Flat bar 80x5mm about 70~80mm

The Build

1. According to your drill choke cone dia

(in my case it was a 16mm cone)

do a hole at the center of each piece onto the marked line

about 0.50~1.00mm bigger than the cone dia.

2. Use a combination of appropriated drill bits

and make the two holes at the desirable dia.

e.g.: Ø6, 10, 13 & 16.5 mm for an Ø16mm cone.

3. Remove/cut the marked areas
and then separate the two pieces from flat bar.

4. Using an angle grinder make each end wedge like the photo.
