After a severe thunderstorm damaged the existing weather station mount on the roof of our Science building, I decided that a new mount was in order. The base is pressure-treated 4x4 lumber, with 12' of unistrut making up the mast. Three stainless steel cables connect the mast to sleds containing 300lbs of concrete blocks each. It's not going anywhere. So far, it has taken several direct lightning strikes and handled 70+ mph winds without being much worse for wear.
