Waterproof Stickers Using Only Household Materials

In this tutorial, you'll make DIY stickers that not only look nice, but are waterproof too! Best of all, you don't need anything other than materials you'll find in your house.

• Paper
• Clear packing tape
• Parchment paper
• Fabric scissors for cutting with more precision, but you can use normal scissors too

• Printer (optional): if you want to print out designs instead of hand-drawing

For designs with shapes more complex than a rectangle or circle, I recommend leaving a white border around it because it’s a lot easier and it still looks nice. The few times that I didn’t do this, it took forever and didn't look any better anyway.

It's hard to see in the picture, but the small rectangle has packing tape on it.

Cut out another piece of packing tape and lay it flat (sticky side up), then stick the design to the tape so that the design is facing downwards.

Note: this should be obvious, but don't do this the other way! You'll have problems with positioning because of static electricity.

So that it’ll stick to the 2nd piece of tape. Technically optional because if you leave a transparent tape border around the design, that should keep the 2 pieces of tape together, but it’s a good idea to also glue it to make sure it sticks.

I used a liquid glue pen thing, but you can also use superglue and a toothpick.

Make sure to spread the glue evenly or else it’ll darken the paper and be visible from the other side.

The paper design should now be sandwiched in between two pieces of tape.

Make sure to do this on the parchment paper side so you don’t get scratches on the design.

Note: you will be sad if the border is too small, because the sticker is much more likely to fall apart.
