3D printed watercolor mixing pallet for an old chocolate tin tray. Needed a case for essential art supplies (brush, eraser, pencils, watercolors, sharpener, sponge square to clean brush) while traveling. Needed it all in one slim and protected case. The mixing palette has magnets to keep it in place while mixing on the go. Every piece is removable for easy cleaning. Love the result!

Supplies

  • PLA
  • 3D printer
  • small round magnets
  • old chocolate tin can tray
  • hot glue gun and glue

Measure Dimensions of the Tin Can Tray and Design in Tinkercad/Fusion 360

Measure inner dimensions of the tin can tray. Define the number of divisions for the watercolors, brushes, and other art supplies. Customize per your supplies. I designed this palette in three parts. The two thinner parts stack on each other to fit the tin can tray when closed. One of the thin parts (the one that goes stacked on top when closed) has a round hollow design on the bottom to fit magnets. When in use, this palette sticks to the tin can tray lid for easy color mixing and use.
