Water Bottles Become Zippered Container!

IMG_6205.jpg

Hmmmmmm........what to make with my zipper I had laying around.......Then I got an idea! Cut 2 water bottles in half, glue the zipper to the 2 bottoms and you have a container that opens with the zipper! And my zipper was just the right size! Here is how you can make one!

Supplies Needed

2 empty (16-ounce) water bottles

scissors

glue

7-inch zipper

little plastic round feet

artificial flowers without stems

Cut the Labels

Cut and remove the labels off of both bottles.

Cut the Bottles

Cut across each bottle. Check the size as you cut by holding the cut side of the bottles together. If it's too large, cut off some more until it is the size you would like.

Add the Feet

Squirt some glue on the bottle bottom with the bottom facing up. Position the 4 little feet. Set aside to dry.

Add Glue and Zipper

Squirt some glue along the outer edge of the top of the bottom piece. Carefully press one side of the zipper onto the glue. Allow to dry.

Repeat

Glue the other half of the zipper to the cut end of the other half of the container. Allow to dry.

Decorate

You may decorate your new container however you like! I chose artificial yellow daisies. Glue them into place, allowing each side to dry.

It's Finished!

Now you have your completed container which can be zipped, unzipped and filled with whatever you would like!

The Filled Container

I am really happy with my new container that holds pens on my desk! It would also look great in a bathroom filled with cotton balls or other bathroom accessories. I am happy that I have recycled two water bottles into a pretty and useful container. Let me know if you decide to make one too! I know I will enjoy mine!!!
