Water Bottle - Water Wheel
Hi! I am a graduate student and this is for a class project focused on prototyping a product with a typical household material.
Before we even begin de -constructing to construct, we must gather our tools and materials.
Tools + Materials:
-Super Glue
-Olfa Blade
-Metal Ruler
-White Thread
-20 clear plastic water bottles
Step 1: Cut Tops Off Bottles
Using your olfa knife, cut the top of the bottle off by using the first ridge of the bottle as your cut guideline. Repeat this about 20 times.
Step 2: Create the Center
Using the bottoms from the water bottles you cut the tops of, connect them together by taping them to each other.
Step 3: Arrange the First Inner Layer of the Wheel
take the middle sections of the bottle and arrange them around your center spoke. Then begin to glue or tape them to each other to make sure they stick.
Step 4: Take the Tops You Cut Off and Connect Them Together
This is the fun part!! Take the tops you cut off and lay them out in the wheel position. Then take your knife and make a small incision 1/4" from the bottle and 1/4" from the top of the mouth. Next take the cap rings and weave them through the bottom hole of one piece and the top hole of another connecting two pieces. Do this for each top until you have formed a whole circle. Then add a drop of glue to each ring opening to secure the rings. Lastly! add a little tape and glue connecting the middle section with the outer section so nothing falls off from each other.
Step 5: Use the Wheel!
Step into the shower or kitchen, where ever you want to try out your renewable energy device, and see how the wheel moves along with the water flow!!
