When I first built my rain barrels, I had it sitting on my deck on a few layers of bricks to keep it elevated. For this Spring, I wanted to build a proper stand that would be elevated to allow more pressure (using gravity) to get a better flow. Where the stand will be placed is much closer to the garden where it will be primarily feeding.
This instructable is just for the stand only. I will be redoing my instructable for building rain barrels when I run new eavestrough to the barrels. Follow me to see it when it is completed!
Supplies
2 x Patio Stones (I used extras that I had when I ripped up a section of my deck)
4 x Patio blocks (I used these to keep the wood elevated from the ground and just help with sturdyness)
Saw
Various lengths of 2x4 (I purchased 8 foot lengths from a local hardware store)
Construction Screws
Drill & Drill bit
Level
Location and Stones

Find a location that you will be placing your stand. I recently tore a section of my deck out and there was a tree stump there. I decided to use the stand as a way to go over it / out of the way from foot traffic.
I placed the patio stones on either side of the stump.
Using the tape measure, I measured the minimum length/width that I would need to hold the barrels and placed the deck blocks accordingly. For this stand, it will be approx. 4 feet wide x 17 inches deep at a height of about 2 feet
Measure Twice Cut Once

As previously stated, I will be making this 4 feet wide. Using the measuring tape and marker, I marked the place on the wood that I would cut. Using a chop saw, cutting the wood.
I placed the wood beams in, adjusting the blocks accordingly to fit.
Attach Legs

For this step, I wanted to use the blocks to help with the support. To do this, I cut 2x4 to achieve a height of approx 2 feet. Using screws, secured it to the beams on the bottom of the stand.
To help with the sturdiness of the stand, I also cut 2 support beams that will connect the legs together.
Create Top Beams

Cutting 2 more 4 foot lengths to create the top support. This will be where I will be connecting the cross support beams where the barrels will be sitting on.
Attach to each leg.

For this part, I cut a number of 17" length boards.
Using a spare block as a spacer, I started on 1 end, screwing in each board. Continue this until completed.
Place Barrels on Stand

Now that it is all completed, place the barrels on the stand!
