Washi Origami Paper Necklace

For sure, you can use any paper and a bead for this one. Choice is yours! For me, I had an idea of making it Japanese style, so I made this one. When you check my instructions, you might notice some differences between the final product and the materials you need. I listed everything you need to make it, however, I made it quite a while ago, so I had to recreate the instructions for Instructables. That is why you see the differences. I hope you can follow the instructions without any difficulties. Enjoy!

Scissors

Cut a origami paper into 8 strips. Repeat the same for the other paper.

After that, fold each strip diagonal and cut it diagonal. Now you have 16 strips for each paper, so you have total of 32 diagonally cut strips.

Apply glue on a strip leaving about a half of an inch at the bottom. Place a nail at the bottom of the strip and start rolling it upwards to make a roll, and pull the nail out.

Cut a good length of a nylon string and put it through the halls of the rolled beads.

Pour some glaze on a plate or into a cup and mix it with a little bit of water to thin it out. Glaze all the beads with a brush. When you finish glazing, tie both ends of the string, and making it look like a necklace. Hang it somewhere to air dry.

After drying, replace the string with a new one, but don't just replace it.
What you need to do this time is putting the beads in order, so the order matters! I used all the 32 rolled paper beads for each necklace, but you can adjust the length. As you can see, I have a big center bead and split the 32 beads to go both sides of the bead. I also mixed the beads, so I have a bead from paper A and another from paper B.

Put the end string through a crimp, a clasp, and the crimp again, then do the other side as well. What you need to do now is pinch the crimps with the pliers, then cut the extra string.
