Warming Rabbit
A heating pad in the shape of a stuffed rabbit. This project took me approximately 5 hours. Please remember that if your using fleece or any type of polyester fabric that you must be careful with putting it in the microwave (I normally put mine in for 1½-2 minutes)
Supplies
- Fleece
- Rice
- Scissors
- Sewing pins and needles
- Thread
- Funnel
Cutting the Pieces
Cut the pieces as seen above.
Ears
Take your 4 ear pieces, sewing the red and pink pieces to each other (like above) with right side in. Then fold right side out. using the bottom hole, insert the funnel and put some rice inside, but not enough to fill it. Once that is done fold the edges down (as seen in the photo) then sew them together.
Head
Once the ears are finished, it's time to move on to the head. You may add whichever face you'd like! Using my white thread, I made closed eyes and a small 'W' shaped mouth. an optional feature, you can add some small ovals under the eyes as cheeks and a small upside down triangle for the nose. After the face is done, sew the two head pieces to each other right side in, with the bottom of the head being left open. Fold it right side out, fill it full of rice to your liking, then sewing the hole shut.
Torso, Limbs and Mending Them All Together
After the head is finished, the torso and limbs are quite straight forward. Sew together right side in, turn right side out, then stuff with rice. once you have all parts sewn and stuffed, you may begin to put them together. I placed the ears to the side of the head to get a lop bunny look, however you may position them however you like! The easiest way I find to mend the limbs to the body is by sewing them to the sides of the torso. for the legs, after I sewed them to the bottom side of the torso, I also sewed them into a sitting position.
Enjoy!
Once everything is put together you can microwave it and enjoy your warm rabbit!
