This is a nice teddy bear you can heat up and snuggle up with when you are cold. So my idea was to make a heating pad, right, but I wanted to make it cute in a way, and that's when the strawberry bear was born.

WARNING only use microwave safe fabrics, even your thread has to be microwave safe. I am using wool felt and 100% cotton fabric and thread. If you use anything with polyester it will burn up in the microwave and melt.

If you don't want to make your bear be able to heat up, just fill it with stuffing and you don't have to worry about what fabric you use as long as you don't put it in the microwave.

Dimensions (mine were pretty random, you can make yours whatever size you want):

  • Arms: 3 by 1 1/2
  • Head: 3 1/2 by 3
  • Body: 3 3/4 by 4 1/4
  • Ears 2 by 1 1/4
  • Leaf: 5 1/2 by 5 1/2
  • Legs: 3 1/2 by 1 1/2
  • Tail: 3 1/2 by 3 1/2

Supplies

You will need:

  • Felt; light brown, green, yellow, and black (microwave safe)
  • Any red fabric (microwave safe)
  • scissors
  • rice or stuffing
  • needle+thread or sewing machine
  • fabric glue.
  • possibly rubber band

Cutting Things Out and Putting Things Together

What you will be cutting out:

  • ears
  • legs
  • arms
  • strawberry leaf
  • body
  • head
  • strawberry seeds
  • eyes and mouth
  • tail
  • stem

So basically you cut everything out like in the picture, unfortunately I don't have a pattern for you guys, but when you finish everything, you just use some fabric glue to glue on all of the seeds and mouth and eyes to the body, and let it dry overnight.

Sewing

So, you can either use a sewing machine or hand sew I will sew together the legs and ears and arms and body. Once you sew them all, turn them inside out and put you stuffing or rice inside and seal them.

Finishing Up

So now all you need to do is sew on your legs and arms and ears and leaf head. A little tip for the ears, stick some felt inside so it will stand up better. I can't explain very well how I sewed the leaf head on, I started in the middle then did one long stitch in between the leaves...does that make any sense?

Done!

Your strawberry warm bear is complete! Now if you chose to make it with microwave safe materials and put rice inside you, you can pop that baby in the microwave and enjoy a nice warm bear by your side!

Thank you so much for reading! Stay safe! <3

Tips and Tricks (optional to Read)

I would suggest that you use a fairly thick fabric, so you can't see the texture from the rice. Also, if you are aiming for a cleaner look, I used fabric glue for the face, because I don't have the neatest stitch, but you can do as you please. I also sewed a line across each leg to make the feet stand out more. And last is the strawberry, its optional, but it looks quite cute, so I thought I'd add in how to make one on the next step.

If you want to make a cute strawberry, just cut out the simple shape of a strawberry, and sew it and either add fluff or rice, then cut out some tiny seeds and glue them on with fabric glue, then cut out a leaf head and stem and sew it on, it can be pretty tricky to sew on the leaf head, but you can totally do it! just make sure it is nice and secure.
