I got thinking about this because of my Halloween night weather forecast last year. I have a picture above for the temperature of my area. Frighteningly cold!

In thinking about having to do something else to be warm, I thought of the many coats and hats in my house. I thought, what if that was the costume? Could that even work? At first I thought it was stupid, but then I thought of something.

It reminded me of old Ben Cooper Halloween costumes, where you got a plastic smock thing and a mask and called it good.

This concept is more for adults and small children who don't care that much, but if done right and planned more, you can improve it a lot.

If Ben Cooper could do it, so can we!

Supplies

-a coat

-a hat that goes along with the coat to create the illusion of the costume

-warm gloves

-a lot of imagination

The Basic Premise

to create our "costume," we'll need a coat and a hat.

The coat is the important part, and it's more convenient to use one you already own.

The hat is what you'll be buying or making. If buying, you might be able to order one, but if not, you could try going to a big-box store (I personally got the Boba Fett hat in the picture from Five Below). You'll want to be on a lookout for one that obviously shows what character it is.

The most important part is that the hat makes sense with the coat.

Make It Work

Put on the hat, coat, and warm gloves.

Now you can go out and enjoy your frigid Halloween in style (maybe).

In fact, in trying to find the above picture as a sort of proof-of-concept, (Fun.com was selling all the "pieces") I found some other resources for the last minute costume maker, further showing this concept of a hat and a top. I know I was inspired by cold weather, but you could easily use this concept for warmer weather.
