This is a fun woven project and a funny christmas present!
Christmas is the time to present sweets and candies, and this is definitely a sweet gift!

The licorice strings are really gummy so it end up fitting really well too!!

I' M IN THE FIBER ART CONTEST AND IN THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT CONTEST; IF YOU LIKE IT VOTE IT!

WHAT YOU NEED

You need:
-2 package of licorice rolls (if you find different color roll it will turn out really pretty, I know they do them red too),
-colored candies with holes.

Tools:
-hair drier,
-knife,
-paper tape,
-bowl,
-aluminum foil,
-parchment paper.

UNROLL THE ROLLS

Gently unroll the licorice rolls.
Discard the center part because is too twisted and easier to brake.

MAKE BOTTOM LACE

DSC_4343.JPG
This is the part that will form the bottom part of the bra and the bottom lace.

Connect two long strings of licorice with an holed candy like in the photo.
Do it with 6 strings (this way you are going to have 3 really long one).

MAKE THE CUPS

Place everythings on the parchment paper.

Cut some sections of the strings, all of the same measurement. (Depending on how big you want to make the cups of the bra).
Put them all near each other horizontally on top of the long strings you did before, on one sides of the candies (see photos).
Tape them together on the edges.

WEAVE THE STRINGS

Now it come the harder part: weaving the strings.

Place two longer strings (they are going to be the neck laces) in the middle of the strings you set before, passing under one string and on top of the other, then under, then on top, etc.,etc.... like in a loom.
Then add more strings in the same way, on the left and on the right of the long one (please help yourself with photo!).

COVER CANDIES

DSC_4376.JPG
Cover the candies with enough aluminum paper, or they will melt in the next step.

MELT

Now with the air drier blow on the highest temperature on the licorice net. Do it until you see the licorice sizzle or it will not stick. Then put the parchment paper on top of the licorice net and push really hard with the bottom part of a bowl, then remove it and press really hard with your fingers on each intersections (be careful because the licorice became really hot).

Do a little part each time, not all in one. And try to don't direct the hot air on the candies, or they will melt.
If is necessary repeat the procedure more than ones, until you are sure every things is perfectly stick together.

COOL DOWN

Allowed to cool down for one hour, with some weight on it.

CUT AND DO THE OTHER CUP

DSC_4386.JPG
Cut a cup bra shape on the licorice net.

Repeat again all the steps for the other cup.
