●WATERPROOF (CAMERA) CASE●

I made this case all with recycled material.

You can use it like camera case or to keep your things safe and dry during a bike trip, camping or to the beach.

I can't tell you that is 100% waterproof and I will not take it for a swim, but I think it still pretty useful during rainy weather if you don't have another expansive waterproof case...

WHAT YOU NEED

You need:

-2 plastic empty square shaped (laundry/water/detergent…) bottle;

-2 inner tubes (one smaller, one larger);

-a long zipper;

-dental floss or strong thread;

-some sponge (My mom found it on the bottom of the fruit cassettes that the market throw away);

Tools:

-knife or scissors;

-awl (I made mine with a stick and a big needle).

CUT THE BOTTLES

Cut the two bottles, one taller and on shorter.

(if you are going to use it for your camera measure it before doing the cuttings).

MAKE HOLES

With the awl make many holes all near each other along the top edges of the two cut bottles.

ADD THE ZIPPER

Sew the zipper using the holes you just made.

Sew many hoops around the end of the zipper so it wont come out all the way when you open it (photo 3).

ADD THE HANDLE

Make two small holes on the sides of the case, under the zipper.

Cut a piece of the smaller inner tube, as long as you want the handle. You should cut the two edges pointy, like in the photos, so they will be able to enter in a small holes.

Insert the inner tube in the holes, than make two knot in the inside part.

The holes should be really small, and the inner tube should barely be able to enter, and be really squished inside of them, so that the water will not enter so easyly from them.

ADD THE PADDING

If you are going to use the case for the camera add some padding on the sides, bottom and top.

If it doesn't stay firm just like that you can glue it to the bottle.

WATERPROOF IT

For make the case more sealed I used some inner tube.

Cut the larger inner tube, as long as the circumference of your case.

Sew it in a ring (the ring should be really tight on the case, so that the water is not going to be able to enter too much in it). Place it around the case, on top of the zipper.

If you do it with the sewing machine here is some tips I made on how to sew inner tube.
