WAKA WAKA Warm Hands

What's better than a pillow? A pillow with mittens! What's better than a pillow with mittens? A PAC-MAN pillow with mittens! In this instructable I will show you how to take whatever kind of crazy fun fabric you have on hand and turn it into a pillow with a twist. A pillow with mittens attached so no matter if you sleep with your hands above the pillow or under they will always be warm.

Materials that you will need:
1. Fabric of your choice, 2 pieces each 24 inches long by 16 inches wide ( I raided Grandma's scrap box)
2. Two 8 inch square pieces of fleece or felt ( Which for me was scavenged from a friends remnant pile)
3. A small piece of black  felt for the eyes
4. Stuffing
5. A sewing machince

First you will need to cut out the desired shape of your mittens. I used a cereal bowl turned upside down and cut around it to get the circle I wanted for the yellow PAC-MAN. After the circle was cut I laid my hand down on it and eye balled about how big I would want the opening and then cut out a pie shaped wedge. And for the pink ghost, well I just had to eye ball the shape, mostly rounded off the top of the square. Then cut out the zig zag bottom. Then took my black felt and cut out appropriate eyes for each.

So next I sewed on each little eye very slowly. Because I am a novice when it comes to a sewing so my motto is slow and steady! After each one had the eyes attached and any excess felt was trimmed it was time to stitch up the ( as my friend says) the flappy parts. The opening of the mitten, so that nothing frays. Now it is time to attach that mitten to the fabric. Place on the right side of one piece of the fabric, kind of in the middle or where ever you would like and pin it down. Then take over to your sewing machine and sew around the edge of your mitten, be sure not to sew up the opening. And now you have mittens! Just have to sew a pillow now. Almost there, you can do it!

Now take the right sides of your fabric and face them together. Pin the pieces together if you like, I am a rebel so I just wing it. Now sew up your four sides of the pillow and remember on one of the sides to leave a hole so you can turn it right side out as well as stuff it. Before you turn it right side out cut your corners just a little so that way it will make for nice corners once flipped. Once you have stuffed your pillow all that is left is closing up your hole. Now depending on your patience you could do it by hand and hide your stitches or run that sucker through the sewing machine, it's up to you. I did it by hand. I now have a WAKA WAKA warm hands pillow that my husband really seems to enjoy!
